Strange old story in the Indo about Trevor Sargent looking at a possible heave and making a rambling speech.

All reads a bit weird to me. Probably made up

Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

It looks like a slow news day or else Eamons going to make a move soon![]()
There is another article in there too from Senan Molony about green party members being unimpressed by his poor poll showings.
Personally, I doubt most green party membership could care less about his ratings. The party more than most gets a vote based on ideas.

Agreed. Considering they've only accepted the idea of a leader in the last few years, they're hardly going to have the same obsession about the cult of the leader that the main parties have.Originally Posted by KingKane
Wow, what a piece of nonsensical claptrap. The Sunday Tribs dismall GE predictions were enjoyable, but now the press in this winter silly season is contemplating a leadership heave by the Green Party. Folks, we don't know how to have a leadership heave. If a group of us were to write an angry letter to him, we'ld spend half our time argueing over whether a posted letter or an e-mail would be more environmental friendly!
The paper excludes the fact that he has the lowest disapproval ratings [my silver lining and I'm sticking to it]. It excludes the work being done at local level, it ommits the fact that the 'bonding session' excluded Trevor because it excluded all TDs. It was solely for councillors to get together and discuss common issues.
What about my personnal views of the Green Party leader? He's a good leader [our best ever in fact!]. He has skillfully lead the party through major internal changes that are slowly seeing our poll numbers increase [only marginally, but slightly up none the less]. He isn't the best public speaker in the Parliamentary Party, but he makes up for that in other ways. And he is excellent on policy and policy making, bridging the gap between the ideological differences among the membership.
As Secretary of the second largest branch, I'm yet to hear one person speak of a 'putsh'. It's silly season crap, and it's bad journalism.
There, I feel much better now!
You're a Sargent supporter aren't you.....? The first you'll hear of it will be Sargents last gasps as he tries in vain to remove Ryan's dagger from his back. :wink:Originally Posted by AndrewM
As corny as it may sound, I'm not a 'Sargent supporter', I'm a Green Party supporter! What does that mean? It means we're not a party divided into camps, undermining each other. The Greens don't do heaves, and if we did, they'ld probably be the worst heaves in the world.Originally Posted by Maximus

He was the reason I didn't give a secong thought to joining the Greens

No second thought? You just went ahead and joined? Jeez. You'd think you'd put more thought into your political affiliations.Originally Posted by campbeca
