    Ciaran Cuffe

I can't believe that nobody has posted this.

I especially love the bit where he claims that it doesn't rain that often in this country.

He said that he doesn't get wet often when he cycles to work.

If you cycled to work Supermanpolitician you'd find the same.

It rains here less often that in Northern Europe where far more people cycle.

I currently live 10 miles from the city centre, but in the past I used to do it. Trust me, it rained.

The guy went on radion to talk about it with no preparation whatsoever. Listen to all the texts and emails at the end.

I did. Most of them didn't even listen properly to the interview.
"The lunatics are running the asylum, Pat!" and other such wisdom.

    Often?

I don't get rained upon often. Probably less than 10% of the time. And my over-trousers and rain-jacket keep me dry.

The listener who said the Greens should have put forward somebody who actually knew what they were talking about, was spot on and had clearly listened properly!

can't listen to it. However on getting rained on, Met Eireann's long term data suggests it rains 8% of the time during the peak commute hours. And decent raingear will do fine against that. However 2008 and 2007 may have started to bugger up that data.

Often? No, not that often because it was raining.

Simple fact is that it is a ludacris policy. Most people who drive into the city centre do so because there is no alternative. Will someone who lives ten miles away cycle? No. They will still drive. Instead their company will have to (or maybe might, not quite sure yet as the GP haven't decided to tell their own members) pay 200 eur as an extra stealth tax.
