FG generally don't object to "environmental dangers" when they are in their respective Council Chambers, but they are often the most vocal in taking the opposite perspective in public forums.

And the issue with Senator Fitzgerald was not her right to hold a position, but the fact that she was telling blatant lies about Deputy Gogarty and the Green Party.

On this occasion I am definitely playing the man and not the ball. I have no issue with him using the term 'mad', I regularly use the term 'retard' with no offense intended towards people with genuine disabilities, the term retard is much broader, people can be morally retard, emotionally retarded or just seem to have a problem with cause and effect.

Irrespective of Gogarty's actions, it was bad form of Hayes to question his mental health publicly in order to (presumably) inflict political damage. He could have easily questioned his actions, his stance on issues and his continued membership of a government party without referring to his state of mind.

An apology is merited.

I'm not a fan of her either but she has been working on the incinerator issue all summer, what has Gogarty done.....nothing.

I'm always interested to see people jump to defend Senator Fitzgerald on the issue of the Rathcoole incinerator but nobody ever seems to mention that when she was a member of Dublin City Council she voted in favour of the Poolbeg incinerator - does this not smack of hypocracy and nimbyism.
