I think the Greens will stay in and hope this will all be forgotten in three or four years. Also Eamonn and John seem to love the power of being ministers and I don't think they will give up the state cars that easily.

How do you vote for someone who runs in a completely different constituency? I mean I have major problems with our electoral system but I didn't think it allowed fraud on that level.

Bring back tonys. He defended the indefensible to the hilt but at least he did it with a bit of class and intelligence.

This poll is about as relevant as Enda Kenny as an effective leader:

Based on the recent poll of who actually uses politics.ie

    Fianna Fáil 9.33%
    Fine Gael 44.01%
    Green Party 5.20%
    Labour Party 17.29%
    Progressive Democrats 3.50%
    Sinn Féin 11.77%
    Independent 5.20%
    I wouldn't vote / I don't know 3.71%

... the old Greens seem to be doing ok

That would be a very valid point if it wasn't for the fact that in this case Fianna Fail were misled by the Department of Finance.

All the Ministers around the table assumed that the proposal had been sanity checked - Fianna Fail Ministers and Green Ministers.

The three people who should have spotted this, and dealt with it, were Mary Harney, Brian Cowen and Brian Lenihan.

The fact is, they didn't spot it.

If they had spotted it they would have spotted the political sh!tstorm it would cause, and the would have nixed it.

All the Ministers were misled by the Department of Finance?

The civil servants are to blame?

    Who is in charge?

    Anyone?

The Secretary General of the Department of Finance is in charge - as he always has been.

The Finance Minister's job is to keep him in check, and he failed miserably, as he did previously in the case of VAT on childrens shoes, and Brigid McCole.

You might want to proofread that reply SPN - you seem to have mixed up the jobs of the Sec Gen and the Minister.
