    Gormley in climbdown

Looks like John made a mistake then had mary Harney do his batting for him.
Humiliation for Gormley over posts - National News, Frontpage - Independent.ie

And this is the man who claims that FG and not FF are to blame for bad planning decisions because they were taken without a separation between politics and the needs of the people?

Does anybody else think this is hypocrisy from John Gormley?

A bad bad mistake yes. Hypocrisy No. His claim re FF and FG planning is irrefutable fact and you do yourself and your party a disservice by raising it.

Ha but he didn't make the claim about FF as he is bedfellows with them now.

Hypocrisy yes, as it is the very type of decision he would have cried about before he got into power.

of course, but to make a mistake is not inherently hypocritical. He didn't know. Now that he does it is being rectified - very different to actual cronyism

    anyway i gotta go....

I think that is a fair point, but the fact that you see all previous decisions as cronyism, but not John Gormley's says a lot.

Cold light of days facts, it looks bad. OK I accept not the end of the world, but defintiely a bit two faced.

Disgraceful behaviour from Gormley in appointing two FF/Green party hacks to a quango.

I understand from reports that his illegal act is leading to severe hardship among a body of tenants and landlords who are seeking resolution to disputes.

He is clearly out of his depth in government.

I think his biggest error was standing shoulder to shoulder with Ahern when Ahern was so obviously lying through his teeth. Gormley, Ryan et al gave off about the reality of politics. All their sanctimony is now gone.

This is just the sort of thing he would have been finger-wagging about when he was in opposition.
Lynch was right to tear into him.

You understand incorrectly. All board decisions taken while the two invalid appointees were in place were reconfirmed at a meeting last month.
