Gormley needs to prevent a 2nd Referendum.

If, as it appears from very early indications, that the Lisbon Treaty is defeated, the natural knee jery reaction by Cowen and the rest of the FF cabinet (O Cuiv aside), with cheerleading from Fine Gael, is to have a second go to get it right.

If Gormley and Ryan allow this, when his party democratically voted not to have a position, their credibility amongst his own supporters will be gone.

Until Cowen confirms it, they needs to make his position clear.
We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns — the ones we don't know we don't know.

There will be no re-run. This looks like a landslide and there is no way they will try to overturn it as they know it wont pass.
This could be the end of any move towards a Federal Europe. One again the Irish have saved Europe and Civilisation.

Boycott any second referendum. Let them have a 99% Saddam victory if they want - just to show the world how democratic they are!

I don't think Europe is going to see it that way ...

Let them ask their people (once).

While I get your reasoning, I would most definitely turn out to give this document the KO if they dare put it to us again.

What you'd like them to do, and what they will do, are not the same thing. Aside from which, it's none of your business. Not that it was any of that interfering gob************************e, Kouchner's, business to get involved here ...

By that reasoning they'll keep putting it until they get the answer they want. That's not democracy. So let's not play their stupid game anymore. Níl means níl.

And he will....in the same way he prevented the M3 going through Tara and the Incinerator in Ringsend
