Patricia McKenna Considers Dáil Run - Sunday Trib

According to the Tribune yesterday, former MEP Patricia McKenna is considering running for the Dáil in Dublin Central. She said it's something she has been interested in for quite a while, but she didn't want to go forward while still a sitting MEP. She lives in Dublin Central and so is considering running there. I suppose the question is does she stand a chance in such a tight constituency, or would she be better off trying somewhere else?

I read that too. But isn't there already a thread about this? It would be a tight race, but with SFs Nicky Kehoe saying he's not going to run, I think she stands a chance. She polled well in 2004, getting more votes then Ivana Bacik whom many consider a dead cert to win a seat.

I don't think she did particularly well in Central, though. At least she didn't in the boxes I was tallying. In fact in those polling stations her performance was pretty close to atrocious.

She polled 9% in the Europeans. When she ran in the Leinster House elections in Dublin Central in 1992 she polled 2.55% and less than a thousand votes.

The Greens polled 5.23% in NIC in 2004 and 6.18% in Cabra.

I hope she doesn't run because I hugely admire her and if she tried she would be gutted.

Really? She'll want to spend more time in Stoneybatter if she's running again so.
