Green Party Convention 2008 Apr 11-13 - Dundalk

Anyone going to the Green Party Convention in the Fairways Hotel in Dundalk?

It's on April 11th to 13th. It will be very interesting to see how the media and protest groups treat the Greens now that we have entered Government.

It will also be very interesting to see how our membership feels about progress to date.

Will there be a free bar? Anyone who doesn't stay overnight for the festivities is a light-weight and not fit to serve in public office! Thus shall the Greens be judged.

There is no such thing as a free bar.
We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when creating them

The media will ignore it as it is outside of the M50.

There are posters up in the DKIT advertising protests by student environmental activists. However, it might all fizzle out.

It was in Galway last year and was broadcast live on RTÉ.

What a strange statement! Have you not noticed what media and protest groups are saying?

On the other hand, the Greens, after nine months on Planet Bertie, are saying nothing.

About the convention: will the men in suits who run the party allow any discussion of the bothersome issues? You know... fluoridation, Shannon, Tara, Shell, Lisbon, public appointments, incinerators, corporate donations, co-location, crime, corruption, coming austerity...?
15 Jan 2001 -- Fine Gael pledged to end fluoridation because of "serious health concerns".

There looks to be vigorous competition for the 10 places going on the NEC. As one of the aspiring candidates I wish everyone else the best of luck.

Quite a few of those topics will be covered. Why don't you come along Joe for old times sake?
