Bronwen as Green Party Chair - a stepping stone for Europe?

    Comrades!

The rumours doing the rounds are that Councillor Bronwen Maher is running because she is either desperate to hold on to her council seat in Dublin North Central, which is now regarded as an easy target by Labour or that she intends to use it as a campaigning platform for the European nomination.

Which is the more likely explanation?

So there's a rumour going around that a politician is seeking to boost her profile in order to improve her chances in future electoral forays? Conspiracy theory of the decade!

Sure, but if Maher has got designs on Europe, it'll be interesting to see her pitch against McKenna!

First off the council seat in Clontarf not DNC, DNC is a general election constituency. Second, a elected rep seeking to boost profile is what you would expect an elected rep to be doing. Third, Labour are more targeting the 2nd FG seat in Clontarf than they are the Green seat.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

KK, I stand corrected re Clontarf!

Maher's entry into the race is a bit late if she is serious about becoming the Chair. If it is a pre-run for Europe, it's a good move. She'll find out her internal party support. As for targeting the 2nd FG seat, think it's more a case of getting back the seat won by Maher from Labour.

I like Bronwen, not your typical Green party member, BUT I wish she would stop starting posts here on P.ie to boost her own profile.
Bronwyn it is counter productive- particularly if you bomb in the election for Chair.
