    Gormley and spin

I havnt been impressed by Gormelys first couple of months in office. He is becoming a media whore.

In fact he reminds me a lot of Michael Mc Dowell, the way he conducts himself.

Hes concerned,so whats he gonna do then?

Another question is what is the Green party Councillor in Clare Brian Meaney going to do?
He has stated that he will notr remain in the GP if no action is taken. What does that mean, will he try to weasel out of this if there is a promise of 'jam tomorrow' for Shannon - such as increased long haul coverage, flights to Paris?

In alternative Universe, Eamon Gilmore is Environment Minister.

What would he say or do differently?

Cop yourself on lads. These petty attacks are starting to show FG in a very bad light.

It's time to develop a new response to criticism , other than "what would FG/Lab do differently?".
Cop yourself on, lad. These petty responses are starting to show the Greens in a very bad light.

To be honest, that's a fairly weak response. We'd do well to hold ourselves to our own standards.

That said, it's also a rubbish thread. What's the point? Is noting one's concern "spinning"?

Not at all. If they want to criticise JG they should be able to tell us what they would have done differently.

If they would have done the same thing, why are they criticising JG?

Yes its a rubbish thread, one of many. It is very interesting that this is the best they can do.

Personally, I'd prefer to see them starting work on getting more FG Councilors and TDs elected in the future.

Fair enough, I suppose it's a matter of how you view it. I'd like to argue whether something is the right or wrong course of action without recourse to "well you wouldn't do any better". Besides, what happens if someone who doesn't support an opposition party levels the same charge? What's our response then?

Ah no, I'm sure that they'll continue to focus their efforts trying to take seats from Labour and the Greens.

Green members seem to be getting very bitter now all of a sudden. If you can't take attacks on your actions in government then you shouldn't be in government. The Greens were well able to attack the government on stupid issues when they were in opposition. Also I could be wrong, but I don't think Barrys is a member of FG anyway.

I have to say I do agree with your final point though and when Enda rings me tonight to ask me how FG's effort to attack the Greens on politics.ie is going, which is of course FG's great plan to win seats in the locals and in the general, I'll say it to him.

That's a fair observation. I know that the reason I'm becoming bitter on P.ie is because of the group of FG members who continually ************************e on about the Greens, while completely staying away from FF. Most of the attacks don't even come in the form of attacking our actions in government: they're attacks on the idea of the Greens being in government with FF. They're laced with bitterness and are just annoying.

(I don't mean to say this about all FG members, nor all the FG members attacking the Greens. It's the "The Greens are 2 faced ************************************************s who deserve..." type of criticism that's extremely annoying.

Jokes aside, surely you've noticed how some of the FG posters have gone a bit mad lately? They don't seem to touch FF, but focus on the Greens. On another thread, they announced (seemingly contrary to any sort of logic) that they're going after Green seats in particular. I don't know if the FGers on this site are indicative, but if they are...

The "charge" was that JG is a "media whore".

I've no problem debating the merits of approach A versus approach B, but there is no way to positively debate the types of petty sniping we are seeing at the moment.

They aren't going to take very many seats from anyone if they keep up the negative "spolied child" nonsense we've seen thus far.
