This is not what I have heard. There was a meeting between the councillors and the negotiating team before the debate (and just before the party NEC meeting) where at least some of the details of the Seanad deal were laid out

Your source is 100% wrong. It was clear that our cllrs would have to vote for FF candidates in order for us to get 2 Taoiseach's nominees.
There was no talk of the votes being inspected, which is where the problems arose.

    Oooops!

More lies and misrepresentations about the Greens! Seems to be the latest fashion or something.

Some people may have a different recollection or be selective in their memory, but that is how it was.
I was talking to Deirdre last night and it is true alright. Looks like both Burrell and O'Brien both Green councillors on Bray town council are fighting over her County council seat. As far as i know there is only 1 person intrested in her town council seat a fella named Stephen not sure of his surname.
I think this is the end of the Greens at local level in Wicklow as these are all yes people, unlike Deirdre.

It's widely assumed that Dan Boyle will be nominated by An Taoiseach as the other Green Senator.
Wicklow Times jumped the gun and published a press release she had issued IF she was to be nominated.

There was sh1t in the water.
He just had a very high profile year as mayor
All the other parties were in disarray

And O'Brolchain STILL couldn't win a seat for the Greens. If it didn't happen this time, it never will.

The water crisis hurt NOB harder than it did FF. I don't think he was to blame but it hurt him. He was always up against it. DDB had the seat handed to her. She messed up. Now that FG have the Fox seat they will be much harder to dislodge than it will be for NOB to take the Labour seat assuming Michael D retires.

Replacing Deirdre De Burca on Wicklow County Council

Gryffindor here! This is my first post.

I picked up on one of the discussions regarding the two possible contenders for Deirdre De Burca's Bray seat on Wicklow County Council.

I don't think it's fair to describe Caroline Burrell as a "yes person". If memory serves me correctly, shortly after she was elected to Bray Town Council, she staged a sit-in at an illegal development and managed to get the thing stopped.

I have always found her approachable and hard working - we definitely need that!

    Gryff. :P :P

I doubt that. The Greens seem to have got the blame from the electorate of Galway West for the water-crisis and I doubt they'll forget that fiasco any time soon.

Several of us who know and care for Deirdre wish she'd stop making a show of herself and go back to being a counsellor (not councillor) , which by many accounts she was very good at.
