Something I've noticed since the Greens entered government

They're on the news almost every day now. Since John Gormley, Éamon Ryan and Trevor Sargent received their seals of office I've noticed at least one of them on the news every night. People could interpret that as being potentially bad or good, but there is no doubting it's significance. Whether or not that trend will continue is another thing of course.

There's probably a direct correlation between being Ministers and being in the news. Your post gets the "stating the bleeding obvious" prize of the week

Thrill of the new, not much else to report politically with FF-PD back in power. I actually hope it doesn't continue - the greens will otherwise continue to take flak for castrating their party policies, taking any heat off the other coalition members. I think the greens were right to take a chance of a few of their policies being implemented in government than none in opposition.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought you were going to comment on their new-found look of smug satisfaction.

And if you turn the volume up you can actually hear them purring - the cats who got the cream.

Eh what? Whether it's obvious or not does not taking away from it significance, good or bad or it's worthiness of discussion. You could also say that musing on the fact Bertie Ahern is Taoiseach for a third term is "stating the bleeding obvious". That doesn't mean it's not worthy of discussion. So your post gets the prize for "the most pointlessly nit-picky post of the week", as far as I'm concerned.

You're perfectly welcome to make the point that it could be the rope with which they'll hang themselves in the long term. This isn't meant to be a Green love-in. Grow up, get over yourselves and contribute constructively.

Just out of curiousty Gombeen, have you actually left the party? Or are you just taking a "leave of absence" to consider what to do?!

Being in the public eye has to be good news for the Greens. Higher profile, more public recognition. The fact that they are all articulate and passionate about their cause can only help them. I thought the stuff about taking the bikes to work looked a bit corny at first but "on mature reflection" I think that thing probably does give them a lot of credibility

Yes, I'm sick of them too.

    That was your point, right?
