Sargent's hysterics betray something about his politics?

    Anybody see Oireachtas report?

Enda rose to point out the glaring differences between FF and the Greens while illustrating the type of scrutiny the new government will be subject to over the next few years. He did so in good humour only for Sargent to stand up, bile spewing from his mouth, to castigate Kenny for not dealing with the shinners. It now appears that the Greens wanted a multi-party non FF government and that Enda Kenny rightly kept to his principles and his word. When this option didn't work Trev abandoned his principles and hoped into bed with the party of big developers, speculaters and gas guzzlers.

Does all of this betray a craving for power at the heart of the greens decision to go in with FF? Are FG the only party of principle left?

It also says that Sargent was willing to go the extra mile for a non-FF government but Kenny wasn't, possibly wasting 5 years in power, when he'll deal with SF anyway

But Kenny ruled out the SF option during the election. Sargent resigned as leader so as to keep his word yet taunts Enda Kenny for keeping his....

I just posted this on another thread and I might as well post it here as well.

It's incredible that we now live in a country where parties are attacked for not selling their souls and breaking their promises for power. FG said that they would not go into government with SF and many people could have voted for FG for that reason, so it's only right that FG did not talk to SF. SF are not ready for government in this state yet and it would only hurt Ireland and FG if FG went into government with them anyway.

Maybe if Kenny spent less time kissing babies and more time doing debate prep we'ld have a FG/Lab/Grn government.

Post-election he wasn't serious about it. If he was, he would have worked to put something together. Instead, he sat around waiting for the PDs to jump ship. And his Dail comments weren't in 'good humour'.

Me? Fine Gael for government no matter how long it takes.

He did work to put something together, if the Greens bided their time we could have had a real change of government a couple of years down the line. Instead you sold out on o-location and are now in government with the two parties that have done us environmental damage for ten years.

The numbers weren't there. A government containing FG and SF was never realistic and if they FG had gone in with SF. For crying out loud people were attacking Enda for even trying to form a government on here only a few days.

FG got the number of seats they were aiming for which should have put them into government. It’s not their fault the Greens and Labour failed to make the gains they needed to.

I think that the Greens were let down by a lack of coalition leadership on the part of Enda Kenny. It seems that Kenny just wasn't clever enough to negotiate a proper deal that would have seen FF out of government. Perhaps Sargent was right after all and the Greens did make the best of the situation by at least getting some of their policies implemented. Kenny and his cronies in FG were just too narrow minded to see the possibilities.

I have no time for FG but bit ironic a Green Party person criticising anyone given the craven opportunism of your party in the last two days. What happened to ending planet Berite -
