Really? If the people were interested in stopping the Tara project, how come they didn't vote Green? Or vote Labour? They didn't, and they get the policies they deserve.

All this can be solved fairly easily, by answering one question: what should the Green Party have done to save Tara?
Making it a condition for entry into government would have been one thing. It does amuse me how the Greens seem to dismiss the fact that they have the ministries that will be in charge of the M3 and the corrib gas field, yet think that we should be singing their praises for introducing energy efficeint lightbulbs.
Lord, we'd never be so foolish as to expect anything but the severist oprobrium for all our actions.

You know Ed and Michael, if you stopped letting them provoke you this thread would be finished about a year ago. There's about two people still going on about Tara and they're really just enjoying teasing you at this stage.

Not just Tara, their electorate and grassroots members as well.
The ones who voted to enter government?
Lets be realistic, this Party stated that it a netural ( ) during Lisbon but John Gormley was out there supporting it.
Yes, it was also affirmed that members are free to campaign in any way they wish. Some campaigned on the yes side, others on the no side.

Still wants. It was something we didn't get upon entry to government, but that doesn't indicate that party policy has changed.[/quote:lvvrmnll]

Sorry to give you a reality check but when Gormley said you weren't the moral conscience of FF...............

He was wrong!

As a junior partner in a FF Government this is exactly what you are, like it or not. Is it right?..................

GOD NO!

FF should have it own conscience. Personally I doubt they ever had one.

When the Government is unpopular, it gets punished and usually FF has a stronger grassroots than its coalition partners. The PD's are proof of this.

The fact that you would say that surprises me, very FF of you. They said the same about Health and Justice at the last election.

They didn't vote green because they didn't believe them. They were right. I was wrong.

1. They should have made it a deal breaker.
2. When John Gormley became Minister for the Environment. He should have worked with the Eu to ensure that the current Eu case resulted in an injunction on work until the case is dealt with.
3. When Rath Lugh was being impigned on and they were deciding what the boundary of the National monument was, he should have ensure that there was an adequate area of influence around it being protect more than the 100m the M3 initially allowed and certainly more than the 20m and less they tried to build the motorway in.

When the Greens we're out they asked why didn't the Minister do stuff .. now they're in they claim to have no power and no responsibility.

The M3 is not just a case of environment, it is also due to the strange nature of decision made a good candidate for a corruption investigation.

A simple question back to you...

If Fine Gael brought a motion to Save Tara and re-route.... Would the Greens support it?

Or would they back out still?

After all the number are in favour of this issue if the Greens, Finian MC Grath and Sean Haughey defect and everyone else votes for Tara.
