GREENS WILL BE GREAT IN GOVERNMENT

Greens/FF Government will be the best match. A little to the left will be no harm after 10 years of making the rich richer. And there's no harm in giving FF a dig out .....WHEN THERES SOMETHING IN IT FOR THE GREENS. After all when someone gives you a dig out ..they expect something in re-payment.

Maybe he didn't want to leave any wiggle room? Maybe he just wanted to state a position and stick to it.

Sargent's term as leader is up this year anyhow, so its not so much him falling on his sword, and not to doubt the man's visible integrity and honesty, but given he's built the greens into a credible force both sides of the border (the Greens along with the S(h)inners are the only all-Ireland parties), the man deserves a rest and let someone like Eamon Ryan or Gormley take the heat for a while.

The way is see it, Sargent had to get stuck into FF in order to get those vital FG/Lab transfers.
But yeah it will be tricky- in ways could resemble the Albert reynolds FF brief Gov with The PDS- one of mutual distrust, where some very personally insulting comments were made on all sides. i know this is different scenario- but will Roach, and Cullen be in this next cabinet if the greens are there? How much internal FF disharmony would this sow, if they are not? How much disharmony in GOV if they are?

Do the greens have a firm understanding of the party whip? Do they even have one?!

Government for the Greens may pull them apart as a unit- the posturing has to stop. It's hardcore grown up politics now or never. Skin and hair may fly- but so what? They may come out stronger from these internal divisions- they may loose a few, but maybe those who walk would be the maverick wing of the party, afraid of responsibility.

Mahon down the tracks.....other events and you'd wonder, can they really cut it? Maybe they'll get 2 years out of it. But i'm not sold on it just yet. Interesting to observe as a non partisan.

I'm not adverse to them influencing policy at all, could be the very antidote this country needs.

Trevor Sargeant seems a man of integrity to me, ard fheis speeches are about performance rather than substance and i'd take a man of substance like trevor sargeant over the empty but 'showtime'performances of some of the other leaders any day.
