Trevor Sargent gets an odd invite

Bord Bia has oddly deemed it fit that Green Party foodie wannta-be Trevor Sargent should chair a session at the National Organic Conference in LIT next week.....EventDetail

besides the fact Trevor has zero qualifications on the topic I wonder if FG and Lab think it is appropriate for an rabid Green-ie to be given a platform/profile (and probably related expenses) at a tax payer funded event???

wonder if organic cucumbers or bean-sprouts will be on the lunch menu?

I'm not sure what you think chairing a panel at a conference involves exactly, but it doesn't amount to giving someone a 'platform'. Sargent has sufficient experience in this general area and is a relatively high-profile politician, making him a suitable candidate for such a role.
Don't blame me; I voted for Kodos.

Despite your typos and lack of sentence capitalisation, I am sensing that you believe Mr Sargent, someone who served as Minister of State for Food and Horticulture for nearly three years, has no qualifications to chair such an event?

The Greens do seem to have a habit of appointing their goons to various positions in the party, where they don't seem to have any skills or experience e.g. Dan Boyle as economics spokesperson who knows feck all about economics. But to be fair to Sargent, he is working at Sonairte the eco centre in Meath and is also selling produce from his garden at farmers' markets. Which is probably why he got that particular slot on the programme.

If he is happy to work and talk to vegetables, let him at it.

So you only want a FG / Lab person at these events.

Personally I would have thought previously being Minister for Horticulture would be adequate qualifications for such an event?

You've got to be joking me?? Bord Bia invited a man who's a good public speaker, who grows his own vegetables and who was the Minister for Horticulture to talk about organic veg?? Are they mad?? Sure what could he possibly know about veg???
