    Greens announce "deal-makers" & campaign video

    The Green Party have announced their 'deal makers' that will decide whether the Greens participate in coalition, voicing strong support for serving with FG/Lab.

    At the launch of the Greens' party political broadcast, he said: "Our message is that a vote for the Green Party is a vote for your children's future.

    "We want the opportunity to participate in an alternative government. We want to make a deal. We are putting down some clear markers for voters today on what would make that deal – these are our deal-makers. We want to see real change so that our children can look forward to a decent future. The Green Party will make sure that Ireland faces up to three pressing challenges:

    * Tackling climate change
    * Cleaning up politics
    * Providing top-class education for all children

    Here's their party political broadcast.

    As I understand it, their participation in government depends on a party conference. As such, their 'deal makers' are a bit of a red herring - presumably these are the deal makers of the parliamentary party to recommend coalition, which may be a very different thing.

    You do have a point about the membership making the decision, but a lot of the deal-makers above are based on motions passed at the Ard-Fheis by the members so they're accurate enough.

    What are these "deal makers"? It's not on their website yet.

    Do they include, "immediate ending of the transit of US troops through Shannon airport and Irish airspace" as a precondition for entering a coalition?

    If not then the Greens have no principles at all.

    These are the dealmakers of the Party!

    When our leaders say "this is the story", you can take their word for it.

    We are not Fianna Fail. We don't tell lies, mislead, do planning favours, or launder cash.

    Do pay attention!

Money has no motherland; financiers are without patriotism and without decency; their sole object is gain.” Napoléon Bonaparte

    The 'deal breakers' are so vague that nobody could disagree them.

    Well, if it does include that, they'll never be in government here for a long long time.

    I fundamentally disagree with the notion of creating a future for the children.
    Irresponsible, if you ask me.
