Thanks - but I'm a thick FF gombeen. At least the blueshirts think I am just because I advise them to ditch Enda and develop some coherent economic policies

Fine - so get on with it.

Of course Gormley can remain Party Leader on the backbenches - being a minister and party leader require 2 different skillsets and talents - neither of which Gormley possesses.

Empty the subs bench and bring on the B team - by all means - most of the electorate are sick and tired of the whole issue now - which will completely negate any positive bounce they were hoping to get from it anyway - the electorate would like regime change - not regime reshuffle.

We'll see in 6 months time that nothing will have changed - The dept of finance are running the country now on behalf of the ECB and all the rest of the departments are just scenery.

As regards reshuffling the departments -splitting this here - adding this on there etc etc and Voila! - we're on the case now folks - do they think we are thick or something? - where do they get their ideas? - have none of them seen Yes Minister?

No idea why this is getting so much airtime

I have serious doubts about the intelligent part...
Politicians do not stand for anything beyond whatever they think will get them elected.

Sailor, I would never question your intelligence. Please feel free to remind anyone as many times as you like about FG's support for the bank guarantee scheme.

And will a change of government change this? NO - which is probably as well when one contemplates the opposition benches

Let's have a quick review of recent economic performance.

Exhibit "A": The Rainbow coalition. Leaves office with a strongly growing economy and growing employment.

Exhibit "B": the wreckage left after McCreevy/Ahern/Cowen.

Tell me Sailor, which one would you pick based on that example?

Actually - it will change things - we are now being inflicted with the Lenihan Plan. 13.0 (since March 2009) - and he's sold it to the boys in Europe as the only possible gig (kinda like NAMA) - new government - new mandate -new brains - new deal with Europe - FG will have far more street cred and influence than the current crowd with our European neighbours and creditors - we didnt cause the mess -we're going to raze the current regulatory framework to the ground and start afresh with some proper financial structures - we are paid up members of EPP along with Merkel,Sarkosy etc etc as opposed FF being members of some small insignificant grouping - trust me - we'll get a better deal

The ONLY HOIPE of getting some confidence back into the economy is for a change of leadership. Cowen has repeatedly proven that.

Surely will, Malbekh - problem is I can't get an answer to even the simplest questions I ask them. Will they reverse the pay cuts, will they default on international debt, how will they address next year's deficit, how will they fund their dutch-style health service? You know yourself, the list goes on, but sometimes the deafening silence makes me feel like I have discovered the first perfect vacuum
