    "functioning" indeed!

they are essential , i agree , they are essential to the TD who gets elected.
if he doesnt somehow get these fools to spend their time and money getting him elected he may be in trouble next time out.

maybe it was unwise to use "fools" - because most of them will get their backhanders in one form or another.
local builder getting his staff to put up FF posters for instance.
remember that video from the last GL.
your right , hes NOT a fool.
you can be sure he profitted out of the fiasco as FF drove the country to bankruptcy.

there are some fools tho. those that genuinely believe in FF - this are the ones i feel sorry for.
an ould thank you and a pat on the back for their great work from their new TD.
"dont worry , i will sort you nephew out with that council house wink wink nudge nudge"
"did your aunt get that medical card - pop in during the week"

    that type of thing.
pathetic cap tipping peasant mentality that runs through the blood stream of this gombeen nation.
no better fellas than the stupid paddys.

From having spoken to FFers I would agree entirely with you but i can't believe it's like that with the grassroots from parties across the spectrum.

    It isn't.
"Irish citizens . . . on ratification of the Treaty could be forced to become Euro soldiers." Sinn Féin claim on Maastricht in 'Democracy or Dependency' p.6. in 1992.

i would say back in the day most green grass roots were not in it for the backhanders.
since they WERE a more idealogical driven party.
    SF maybe the same.
FF though? only one reason to leave your dignity at home and go tramping from door to door lying your a-s off for votes.

I can't see any other reason for trying to defend the FF joke of a party. And with the present coalition, to quote the great Mr Orwell "No question now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."
