There was a time not all that long ago, when a homeless person wasn't ignored, passers-by did not just casually pass by. In fairness to Desperate Dan he was being pursued by the media who could smell blood, but I just can't shake that image from my mind - less than 2/3 minutes from where our public "representatives" occasionally hang out with their obscene salaries, expenses, perks, pensions and Mercs. There is a homeless man who spends a lot of time around Kildare Street/Molesworth Street who seems very troubled. A friend of mine wanted to give him a battery operated radio (because his had stopped working) but she was wary of approaching him because he can so scary. He is often to be seen shouting loudly at bemused French teenagers at the Alliance Francais on the corner. None of what he shouts seems to make much sense.
Usually the cops are pretty hot on any rough sleepers near the entrance to Leinster House and move them on, unless they are part of a protest or something, but this guy seems to left in peace.
I wonder what his story is...
