Also, the timing is significant, as Dan Boyle has tweeted - "today was meant to be about the introduction of John Deary to the Seanad..."

    A double spanking.
Unenthusiastic about any of the buggers.

Perhaps Conor Lenihan is off trying to purchase a "Twitter Device" to read it.

Saddened to see Trevor go but at least he went quickly.
    From his 2002 material

somewhat ironic that it was The Herald that were supposedly breaking the story today.

The Gardai obviously had the letter
The next most likely place to have a copy of the letter is DOJ
Gormley as Green leader might also have received a copy from Gardai or DOJ
Minister for Ag might also have received a copy from Gardai or DOJ since it was written on Dept. of Ag paper
Trevor's office obviously had a copy

    Anyone else?

Ashley Cole, to deflect the heat off him.. No? I'd say it's a FF party member rather than a TD copying, for want of a better word, Gary Fitzpatrick. Even if the Tds are wanting to stay in power, thre's always a party activitst who'll create mischief.

Gone for an hour and I come back to 35+ more pages...

Trevor at least admitted the mistake and has resigned with dignity. Compared to O'Dea anyway. This man was supposed to be the pillar against corruption, i guess some naivety has some part to play.

Onto the more pressing matter I find alot more interesting at this stage:

    1. The dates concerning this letter, why leaked now?
    2. Garda Commissioner within a hour of the story "breaking" to the Evening Herald of all newspapers.....wanting a full report and investigation into these matters concerning Trevor. Contrast this with O'Dea.

This is very very concerning. Knowing Lenihan and DA, i am very suspicious about Fianna Fail's influence on this. Speculation of course, let's keep it to that for Dave's sake, which I'm grateful for keeping stories like this and Willie's last week going so smoothly.

Drennan makes a good point (what a surprise!). The greens have set the ministerial resignation bar pretty high now! Next scandal will bring questions of "well Trevor went, why not X". Russian Roulette has been enacted.

I honestly believe the issue not only merits, but demands, a thread. This is possibly a breaker...

His account of the case made it sound, well, a bit peculiar - the insinuation being that it was the victim who was prosecuted. What's that all about?
