The Herald reporter claimed in an interview on Newstalk's Lunchtime show yesterday that a copy of a letter intended for the constituent, Mr McGowan, was somehow (accidentally?) sent to the Gardaí.
This was after Trevor had already sent a letter to the Guards asking them to drop/reconsider/reexamine the case, and the second letter was intended solely for the constituent, outlining the action he had taken.
It seems that both the constituent and the Guards ended up with this letter.

Presumably there's some protocol in place for dealing with a minister attempting to meddle in a criminal case that would involve either the Dept. of the Taoiseach or the Dept. of Justice.

I was saying something along those lines yesterday, a bit stronger though. Now is not a good time for Fianna Fail people to be pointing the finger about dirty tricks
after one of their so called star performers was kicked out of his job for same against
