The rezoning proposal has been put forward by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Councillors Jim O’Leary and Barry Ward and will be considered at a special meeting of the Council on the County Development Plan at 5pm on Wednesday 4 November in County Hall, Dun Laoghaire.
Shame on them. Anyone within reach should go and tell them to cop on to themselves. These meetings are public.

DLR Plan is to facilitate the building of 2,900 houses per annum for the next 7 years. This is to meet the statutory requiresments presided over by the current Minister of the Environment. I wonder who that is?

Teachertime and Cactusflower please comment on that.

its a trick to ensure george lee gets sufficent votes in the next election, after his down fall, and political failure since the by election.

if they occupied the million houses country wide that are already built and empty it would be more in their line, i even heard sharon ni bheolain on the 6/1 saying their would be a shortage of housing , i spilt a cup of tea on myself with laughter, these people are not in touch with reality, and i would imagine are drugged up to their eyes ,only this would explain their sheer stupidity

Ye Gods, a councillor quoting legislation?

What is this infamy?? What next? District Court judges quoting the Law?

Perhaps our conference-hopping friend can quote these 'statutory requirements'?

And remember, stuff that comes out your cake hole doesn't count....

Part V of the P&Dev act 2000, and Part II of the P&Dev (Amendment) act 2002 requires that each planning authority prepare a Housing Strategy which is integrated into the CDP. The 2000 act specifies that amongst other issues the Housing Strategy ensure that adequate zoned and serviced lands for residential purposes are available in appropriate locations to meet future requirements of the HS and existing and future housing demand.

I hope this is in order

What about the multitudes of empty properties already in DLR? How do they not meet existing and future demand?

You bloody councilors from the civil war parties are all the bloody same. Have you learned nothing? What will it take?

    Good idea imo....

Stimulate the building industry again. In the North they have opened up planning on farming land to family which has helped stimulate the building trade from architects, builders yards and small builders.

    Don't knock it.

the arrogance of the uninformed. The HS takes into account forecasts of supply and demand, affordability and sectional analysis as well. This analysis is undertaken by Qualified Planners. I'm not sure as professionals they allow their political views get in the way of their analysis.

Read the HS its available to view - then comment. Or would that be too difficult.
