Was the SPV put to you at convention??

Was hoping some of the greens would let us know whether this previously unheard way of running the Nama book was put to you at convention?

The Greens would read SPV as Sail Powered Vehicle

Seriously though, it does seem to be very risky to hive off so much power to some private outfit. After all, we wouldn't need NAMA in the first place if our private financial institutions had been competently and honestly managed.

I guess it was an EU suggestion, to get the debt off the official books, and that Lenihan jumped at the idea of a private entity, with everything pretty much out of sight and unaccountable.

Suppose the greens got a large vote for Nama anyway...might not make a difference now...but perhaps IT SHOULD!!

Will we have the pleasure of Dan's company on the airwaves tomorrow explaining it all to us???

It smacks of another HSE- type of device to separate the Government from the organisation for which it should be responsible. This time costing billions more.

Green Party conference was Oct 10. NAMA business plan was published Oct 14 and that had no mention of an SPV vehicle so I'm guessing the answer is no. Interesting to find out when and what the Greens(or at least the ones in the loop) knew then.

Looking forward to any future election. It will be like the PD`s. WIPEOUT. Just wonder if Gormless will resign without telling anyone like his good buddy McDowell.
