Why can't they just make use of folders & inserts? There's no reason to carry around entire textbooks all the time!
Or, the school could provide books at school and kids keep a copy at home.
That and making more use of IT and teacher-created handouts.
The whole thing seems to be setup to maximise publishers' profits and pander to the laziest teachers who just stick rigidly to textbooks.
