If the Greens *really* wanted to spend some cash, they could setup a seperate Yes campaign with SIPO.

"Greens for a Yes vote" for example.

Each of their TDs and Senators (6) could donate €6,348.69 each - that's €38,092.14

So why isn't that happening, do their Ministers, TDs and Senators not believe in a Yes vote?

If they haven't the money, they haven't the money.

    From Greenparty.ie

"The Green Party are making an urgent appeal for donations. It takes a matter of seconds to make a donation online. Help us to rebuild now by clicking here.

The party had to borrow money to spend on the recent election campaign. Despite the major setback from these elections, there is renewed determination out there amongst many members.

In politics there is no time to stand still and we must urgently regroup and rebuild so that we can secure the seats of our sitting TDs and grow our representation in the next Dail.

Other parties are on a general election footing and have already begun to contact their supporters in business and the trade unions. We do not have those options. We do not accept corporate donations and we want to maintain that policy.

No matter how large or small the contribution, every euro will make a difference. Please consider setting up a standing order or making a donation to the Party, to help us get more Greens elected."

If a party with two Ministers can't raise more than €5,000 to spend on a major national referendum campaign it doesn't say much for their fund raising capacity, their dedication, their organisational ability or their popularity.

All of the other parties have to fight election campaigns too, you know. That isn't some unique burden the poor Greens have to bear.

FG will get 1.2m from the members draw this Xmas.

The Greens dont have the fundraising capacity of the bigger parties.

There are other reasons to criticise them (See: Boyle, Dan) but this isn't it.

The Green Party don't have the activists to be canvassing on a scale big enough to make any impact at all in a national vote, even if they were silly enough to make that their strategy.
It is down to the individual members whether they want to canvass or not. About a third are against Lisbon so won't be canvassing. Many others will choose to canvass with GenYes or Ireland For Europe.

I'm sure you'll be civil to them. You seem to get upset or excited when people aren't civil to each other.
Do you intend to vote Yes or No, OceanFrog?
