    Greek Elections to be postponed?

It appears that the Greek elections due to take place in April will not happen now. We will have to wait and see. Perhaps the EU is happy with the Technocrat government it installed there?

Elections set to be pushed back, again
Elections probably will not happen in April, due to the "rigid and strict" schedule stemming from troika demands, reports Ethnos daily. That is, the unelected Greek prime minister will be too busy implementing a deeply unpopular program to actually ask the people about it.

This calls for a slightly-pretentious literary quote:

"The people have lost the confidence of the government; the government has decided to dissolve the people, and to appoint another one."

    Bertolt Brecht.

EUROZONE finance ministers are considering a German demand for Greece to postpone its national election as a condition of another huge bailout.

According to diplomats close to the talks, ministers meeting in Brussels tonight to decide on a E130 billion ($159bn) loan package may require a delay to the Greek election due in April so the nation's unelected technocratic government can implement harsher austerity measures.

Germany's demand, which will strengthen Greek claims the rescue package is undemocratic, is being pressed by Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble and supported by The Netherlands, Finland and Italy, which, like Greece, is ruled by unelected technocrats.

Apparently it was part of the bailout agreement.

Jesus, you'd think they would want to keep up the facade of democracy!

No no no! Surely some mistake! After all we are being wrapped into the warm bossom of the new EU. Anyone going to defend this I wonder? McDave, HBAP, Ibis?

The EU is not democratic so why would they change when giving money to a broke country? I can see INDA and co being left in power, as they are teachers pets

I am a supporter of a deeply integrated federal Europe.

However this is just plain anti-democratic and to blunt just plain dangerous.

This decision needs to be overturned in the interests of democracy.

I would be curious how the Irish government felt about this.

Dont worry...they will have no problem with it.

'If Greece want to hold election then let them get the money elsewhere'
'sometimes the people dont know whats best for them'
'its important that time passes to allow a cooling off period in case the electorate do something stupid'.
'elections are not legally due now anyway'

    etc, etc
