Patrick Creed - Greens - Loughrea Area

The Greens have nominated a candidate in the Loughrea electoral area for the local elections - Patrick Creed.

It seems that he has been working hard with the local Environmental Network for the past year, organising workshops and bulb, shrub and tree-planting activities.

All admirable work but it's doubtful if he will unseat Fine Gael's Peter Feeney who is the current Mayor of County Galway.

Would be shocked if that happens, Peter Feeney would see himself at having a shot and topping the poll, if he wants to run in the next general election, he needs to have a strong performance in june

I understand that a high-profile Fianna Fáil member in the area has turned down the opportunity to run against Peter Feeney (FG). It would have been interesting if this had happened as though Feeney is a good man, he really hasn't made a lasting impression in his time on the council. He tends to sit on the ditch a little too often and the voting pact with Sinn Féin is seen by many as uncomfortable.
