Don't forget to stick to alcohol, the water's not too good (in case you needed encouragement)

I love Friday in Race Week. No crowds at the track only the locals and race fanatics
My favourite ever race week memory....seeing a child playing with a fox cub out at the races. It had been abandoned or had it`s parents killed when it was still really, really young and the boy`s family had adopted it. I don`t know if they eventually planned to release it into the wild. Great memory though
Hmmm, Galway Races Pollynight anyone?![]()

The most overarted event on the planet.
Bulbous headed gombeens whoopin it up at a low grade seven day race meeting. Classless sh*te.
The Galway Races bore is second only to the Ski Bore "you just have to try it, the craic......"
Lighten up Anorak, the races themselves are good craic and skiing is a mighty laugh.
You should try them sometime![]()

You could set up a politics.ie tent at the races.
Like the FF one but full of website builders.
Only with great difficulty. Even now with all the new hotels open, the accommodation in Galway tends to book out a year in advance of the races.Originally Posted by David Cochrane
A good idea is to contact the Galway Tourist Information Office at 091 537700 or irelandwest.ie.
Try Corrib Village, the NUIG accommodation.Originally Posted by EoinMn

Its a long established festival, although originally two-day, its' popularity is such that it is now the only seven-day racing festival in Ireland or the UK. As for the 'low grade' racing the galway hurdle and plate are very prestigious events which each have over e200,000 in prize money. It is attended by various categories including families, locals and tourists - all of whom I'm sure apologise profusely that they don't match up to your requisite style and class. Clearly you won't be attending - that's a pity - sounds like you're a barrel of laughs...Originally Posted by Anorakphobia
