Breaking News: Riot at meeting of Galway city council

Apparently protestors have burst into the chamber and chairs were thrown at Councillors. A melee ensued. Guards have just arrived and person arrested. Will try and find source for this but has all happened in last 15mins.

All over the new household charge.

There's nothing about any physical violence, apparently they just shouted. The Gardaí have removed them from the premises and the meeting has resumed.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Michael Crowe has labelled them the "lowest form of humanity".

I wonder if this will be the start of serious public unrest.

It's all over according to the Galway Advertiser. Protester arrested and Gardaí on the scene. The meeting is now discussing transport matters and boring everyone into submission. The crowd outside is still chanting. Cllr Mike Crowe has described those responsible for the disturbance as being the lowest form of humanity.
