    Galway Bay FM Debate

I caught around 2 of the 3 hours of the debate of the 14 candidates this morning. I thought I'd start a thread on how the candidates performed. I'm going to score them all out of 10, as objectively as possible. I was hungover though and my judgement is probably suspect.

    1. O Cuiv FF 4/10 (I was disappointed with o Cuiv. He was slow and incoherent in fairness)
    2. Fahey FF 1/10 (The man is an embarassment to Galway)
    3. Crowe FF 7/10 (Did fairly well for a man that is by all accounts a bimbo. He deserves to get in ahead of Frankie on this showing)
    4. McCormack FG 7/10 (Would have done far better had Finnegan not kept interrupting him)
    5. Healy Eames FG 7/10 (Her inputs would have got a good response from neutral listeners I would imagine)
    6. Kyne FG 8/10 (Did very well, spoke capably and confidently on Conamara issues)
    7. Michael D LAB 10/10 (In a league of his own. Classic performance)
    8. Cathriene Connolly 8/10 (Anyone else notice her constant reference to People Before Profit. She really should make up her mind who she's standing for! She's canvassing no.2's for Labour apparently, she's part of that left-wing alliance, her posters say independent and now this flirtation with Boyd Barret's crowd! She spoke well enough though)
    9. Noel Grealish PD 3/10 (By far the weakest PD IMO)
    10. Donal Lyons PD 6/10 (Got lambasted on social and affordable houses but otherwise competent)
    11. Thomas Welby PD 7/10 (I can't decide between 7 or 8 so I decidced to play party politics with it! I hadn't hear him speak at length before and I was impressed in fairness)
    12. O Brolacháin GP 7/10 (He was getting bullied a bit! He could have done better, he's a better speaker than he showed today and his closing statement was poor)
    13. Cox IND-FF 6/10 (Well her message is strong for swing voters, she made some decent points but personally I have problems with her 9 and a half years of doing jack ************************ for Galway followed by her strategically timed attack of consciousness.
    14. Carroll SF 0/10 (She wasn't on the debate. Does she even exist is my question? I'm thinking elaborate SF conspiracy....

I have no idea whats with the anti-Crowe feeling on this website but its getting very tired...Making stupid statements about him being a bimbo, would you like to clarify exactly why a young successful businessman who had been judged by FF to be worthy of a spot on their ticket despite his lack of longetivity in the party is a bimbo?

    Deleted because of poor spelling.

Thats really thick and totally uncalled for. You are not doing your party any favours with that kinda of comment.

Well he has served as a councillor and if Crowe is really in it only for himself and not his constituents, surely they will see through this and not elect him. And if he is such a bimbo and self interested can I ask you why he is hotly tipped to get the fifth seat, when many saw it as impossible in an election that sees FF probably losing seats? He doesnt sound like much of an idiot to me.

Unfortunately Crowe looks like he may get a seat. I've met him a cpl times - didn't strike me as a deep thinker. I know he was a councillor, but he must have been the quietest member of the council, he was never in the news for raising items at council meetings until the last cpl months, then his flood of press releases got him coverage.
Another example of hype over substance I'm afraid....
