BBC report: Imam calls for attack in Ireland

    From The Irish Times:
    • An Islamic cleric who was exiled from the UK for his support for terrorism has advocated an attack on Dublin airport, according to a BBC investigation.

Omar Bakri Mohammed, founder in the UK of the now disbanded al-Muhajiroun movement, has allegedly been broadcasting via the internet since his exile to the Lebanon and, in a chatroom conversation, appeared to advocate an attack on Dublin airport.

A group called Vigil Network, established last year to monitor and transcribe the online jihadist movement, said it discovered Bakri Mohammed talking to supporters and recorded the discussions.

In sessions recorded in May, June and July, one of his followers, who appeared to confuse Dublin airport with Shannon airport, is alleged to have described it as "where kuffar American forces fly to reach Iraq to kill our brothers".

"Should this be part of the battlefield?" he is reported to have asked.

Bakri Mohammed is alleged to have replied: "Hit the target, hit it very hard and that issue must be understood, the situation there is quite difficult."
While the summary of the programme on the BBC site doesn't explicitly mention Ireland, there seems to be quite an amount of 'interpretation' in saying that he called for attacks on Dublin airport. An interesting story, nonetheless.
Heavy words are so lightly thrown.

Sc*mbag, he should be jailed for inciting racial hatred and once he serves his sentence, he should never be allowed back into Ireland ever again.

How do you know he's ever even been to Ireland?

Just for information, this isn't Anjem Choudary, in case you were a little confused (as usual).

Whats the big surprise? Shannon and the Irish nation as a whole is a viable target in the eyes of the Islamist, we are part and parcel of the US war-machine, subcripted mercenaries reaping the profits of the war effort... Selling ourselves for US favour and airport charges..
The one thing I know is I can't know anything else...

Yes but which "Islamist". "The Islamist"
you need to get your terminology sorted out here.
The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.

Maybe it's just your punctuation, but it's hard to decipher whether you think that only the Islamist thinks we're mercenaries - and therefore legitimate targets - or whether you yourself think so.

Ireland isn't a target because of Shannon. Ireland is a target of these fundamentalists because it is a civilised western democracy. Something which Islamic fundamentalists believe is an affront to Allah.
Wake up and smell the coffee, these guys are out to get us and the sooner we cop on to that the better.

really? Then why do they never mention Brazil, Greece, or South Africa in their rants. Why are they threatening Japan and not China. It's patently obvious they target those who aid the U.S in Iraq, or Israel in Palestine.

Bogwarrior - Their agenda is to spread Islam all over the planet. Anyone who stands in their way is going to get it behind the ear. I didnt and still dont support the war in Iraq but that will count for nothing if i continue to refuse to convert to Islam.
Remember, these are people who will kill you because you've drawn a cartoon of their prophet!
Perhaps your own domestic political stance is blinding you to the fact that these guys are intent on attacking us?
