According to that small segment of the Italian media which is covering this story, between four and eight members of the fairer sex were originally proposed for his European Parliament list on the basis of aesthetics rather than politics.

There was a rethink before the list was finalised, and only one made the cut (what's that they say about the best laid plans ... ).

Take a bow, Barbera Matera, MEP, part of the happy EPP family alongside our very own Fine Gaelers.

    Thank you Gadfly.

Does she want us to vote yes to more power for the European Parliament too?

Rather think she'll vote whatever way the hair-transplanted one wants her to. No need for any mental exertions there - too stressful by half.

More power to Barbera - say Yes to Lisbon.

    Berlusconi says she's worth it.

You can trust him. He has more experience running the EC Presidency than any other head of government.

DFA leaflet currently being drafted along these lines?

Maybe Generation Yes or Women for Europe will bring her over to campaign for them.

Just to put some more of Berlusconi's sleaze into perspective without the intention of getting too Francis Bacon on the subject, it's widely acknowledged in Italy that Mara Carfagna (former calander girl), was shall we say accommodated into Berlusconi' coalition after certain favors had been offered.

    Thus the scenario whereby
    we go from this :

    to Minister for equal opportunity:

At least Berlusconi is being consistent in providing equal opportunities to new budding young female politicians, to do otherwise would surely be hypocritical?

This from her Wiki, seriously you can't make this sh!t up!!!

In September 2008, Carfagna introduced a new law making street prostitution a crime, with fines for both clients and prostitutes. The bill was her first major initiative as a minister. She said that at present in Italy, "as in the great majority of Western countries", brothels and the exploitation of prostitutes by pimps were illegal but prostitution as such was not. She described street prostitution as a "shameful phenomenon"

Prostitution in palatial villas is not so shameful it would seem, especially while enjoying oneself on the four-poster Putin! lol
