Fatal bomb blasts hit Jakarta hotels

At least nine people, including some foreigners, have been killed in two bomb blasts at luxury hotels in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, police say.

One explosion hit the Ritz-Carlton, ripping off its facade, and the other the JW Marriott. At least 48 people were injured.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blasts.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has visited the scene and condemned "the cruel and inhuman attack".

Indonesia suffered a number of bomb attacks - mainly linked to the militant group Jemaah Islamiah - in the first years of the century, but has been relatively peaceful since 2005.

    'Barbaric'

President Yudhoyono said Friday's attacks were carried out by a suspected terrorist group, though he said it was "too early to say" if Jemaah Islamiah was involved.

He added: "Those who carried out this attack and those who planned it will be arrested and tried according to the law

Have a read of this. The US and UK backed muslims to attack the secular/communist coalition that was the legitimate government of Indonesia in the 1960s. They were incited to massacre 500,000 PKI supporters and their families. Its the western backed military government that has caused millions of deaths there in the last 40 years, not islamists.

Modern jihadism as we know it is an invention of the US, used for decades as a battering ram against nationalism, communism and socialism.

What are Jamaah Islamiah after? Indonesia is already a country where minority religons are regulated by legislation and the government has the power to ban Islamic sects for being "unofficial" or against mainstream dogma.

Nah Islam is a religion of peace. I'd say it was the Quakers.

Will you stop trolling? Jihadism is not a US invention. Stop repeating this falsehood.
Not a fan of Wiki but there is a good synopsis of some of the Jihads that have taken place Jihad - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. You'll note some of them took place before the US even existed. Modern jihadism was inspired by Abdullah Azzam and Sheikh Bin Baz, two Sauids, both of whom hated the Americans. The founder of the Muslims Brotherhood hated the US and regarded church dances in the US as immoral and was aghast at the US. Jihadi movements are anti-Western as would be obvious to anyone with a passing interest in the topic. Except people who are out to blame the US for everything except the bad weather.

    You're the one trolling:

The Muslim Terrorist Apparatus was Created by US Intelligence as a Geopolitical Weapon

The Islam Brotherhood was about as relevant as the flat earth society until the interests of the US coincided with it.

The Arab world was modernising, secularising, democratising and developing as a Pan arab entity until the US islamic strategy and attacks from Israel were used to break it down.
