US Sen seeks 2ban Mermaids,Centaurs,Spidey & other "human-animals"-should we do same?

That the view the venerated US site Politico is taking on it:

Politico - Mermaids, Centaurs and Sam Brownback

Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) — an ardent anti-abortion activist — is worried that the Obama administration's loosening of restrictions on stem cell research will result in the creation of a new race of bio-engineered "human-animal" hybrid freaks.
Or beautiful mermaids.
The bill — modeled on an inexplicably overlooked effort by Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal — would ban the creation of "part-human, part-animal creatures, which are created in laboratories, and blur the line between species."
So should we seek to do the same - do I sense another quest for super hero Ahern ?

I forgot the scientific name for these things. As a staunch pro-life I heavily oppose the creation of mermaids.

I oppose this also. Splash was an awful movie, do we really want to risk a repeat of that?

There are already half-human half-animal creatures in existence. One even answers to the name of Kev.

Especially when Fianna Fail calls him!

Speaking as a mermaid, I strongly object to any suggestion that we can be fabricated in this artifical way.

"Minister for Justice, Dermot Ahern TD, rounded on opponents of the proposed legislation, referring to the case of murdered Limerick man Roy Collins, insisting that his life could have been saved by the creation of crime-fighting man-spider hybrids.

Meanwhile, Eamon Gilmore TD suggested that bat-influenced crime fighters, which do not involve genetic manipulation, could be created under existing laws. However, the Labour leader would not be drawn on how the state would fund the cost of associated infrastructure such as bat caves."

Let's hope Sam Brownback runs again to be the Republican Presidential candidate.

Last time out he never got past New Hampshire

Vote Brownback!

As a staunch leg-man I second that.
