Every time I see another troop death in Afghanistan or Iraq its fills me with a certain amount of rage.

And every time I see another headline in a British or American media outlet proclaiming the death of yet another 'hero', I want to smack the editor on the face for such purile propaganda.

The simple fact is that their deaths are a complete waste.

    They are fighting for nothing.

The war in Iraq was based upon complete lies and absolutetly no western army should be there. We are not welcome.
They should all leave because they should never have been there in the first instance.

    Afghanistan is no different.
Osama and his mates inflicted on 9/11 what even the CIA recognises as 'blow-back' - the unavoidable result of the USAs constant interference in the politics of other countries.

Get out and stay out !

You are welcome to your own considered views on these matters, but this comment is complete and utter tosh.

It was his job , his choice

Anyone who goes and fights these wars on the behalf of the greedy scum of the Anglo-American establishment gets no sympathy from me.

I wasn't justifying the murder - yes, no euphemisms - of those people who died in the blast that killed Mountbatten.

And I don't see why the fact that he was in his seventies should matter.
Better tell Mossad to stop going after those who committed atrocities during the Holocaust because they've become geriatrics now.

Mourning the loss of soldiers is mourning the loss of people paid to kill.
They carry rifles which are designed to kill, and they get paid to do that.

And if you think Mountbatten's life was anything but flippant disregard for human life coupled with arrogant elan, maybe check out his overseeing of Britain's retreat from India where up to 1m people died.

Let me say I am not in any way biased here - I do not care who kills members of the British Army

you haven't read what I wrote, my sympathies are to his wife and family, I don't know what they've done to deerve this. All armies have killed people during combat, does your disregard to soldiering extend to the next of kin of members of the Irish army killed in battle?

BTW when the Taliban were smashing Buddhist shrines and statues in Summer 2001 many Afghanis were killed in this act of sectarianism. Many female Afghani citiziens wouldn't share your values either.
