In war, accidents happen - fact! In every modern war since the advent of aircraft there have been accidental deaths from aerial bombings. The munitions used now are identified to the targets via laser guiding or GPS (depending opn the type of munition). There will always be cases where civilians are in areas that troops on the ground cannot see or where wrong co-ordinates are given to those carrying out the bombing. Clearly you have never been in a war zone! I know a damn sight more than you about what is going on.

The end doesn't always justify the means
The Brit Army would not do such a thing. They wouldn't bomb a shopping centre because they would aware of the risk of civilian casualties. NATO are faced with Taliban hiding out in compounds and houses that may seem to be empty or about which they have limited information or are even fed bum information by enemies of the people amongst whom the Taliban are hiding. As Aindriu has pointed out many missions are aborted because or the risk of civilian deaths. Some people on here just hate the UK and the US and will invent any ol cobblers to paint these two countries in a bad light.

Whatever their past crimes we are talking about the Pak-Afghan theatre where they are in the right and backed up with a UN mandate. I am also very proud to see our own troops helping out.

+1 Correct. A usefull post which is an antidote to Cactusflower's hysterical anti-American rantings.

No I haven't, but I DO know many people who have served there on the ground! You know, people who are being shot at daily by the Taliban. People who have seen what the Taliban do to villagers they believe have been helping the coalition forces. Seen what the Taliban have done to young men who have shaved their beards and young women not wearing the burqa! The Taliban for the most part are NOT Afghanis! They are Pakistani extremists!

We have every business in Afghanistan as we are there as a result of the request of the legitimate Afghan governmet to the UN which issued a UN mandate.

There have been many, many cases when the troops on the ground have been denied supporting airstrikes BECAUSE there were civilians in the area. Sorry to disappoint those amongst you who think that bombings etc are carried out willy nilly.
Excellent - so are you saying that no civilians have been killed in the conflict then?

    That's great news!!!

I presume you have stats to back up the assertion that no civilians have been killed by the Brits?

...and now YOU'RE telling ME what I said???!!!

    How does that work???

The British Army are responsible for far more deaths than the Taliban are.

The British Army is utterly evil and anyone who joins an occupying oppressive army wanting to see some "action" is one hell of a twisted f**ker who should be in jail.

The amount of people incarcerated in British prisons who used to be in their so called security forces is incredibly high - which backs up my assertion that they are evil f**kers.

Those jumping on the graves of British soldiers are also jumping on the graves of the French, US, Canadian and soldiers from many other neighbouring countries who have died in this conflict.

So how many innocents have the British Army murdered?

After all you have said that they have "strict guidelines" and that they know the innocent civilians are there and then strike... so how many have they allowed to die?
