Prosecutors are to interview 30 women who attended Berlusconi's parties.

If he wanted to be Hugh Hefner, sure that would be grand but the extent of this hubris is becoming quite mammoth:

Silvio Berlusconi's parties: Italian prosecutors to question 30 women - Telegraph

The accusation levelled at Mr Berlusconi by his estranged wife was that he cheapened politics and hung out with
underage girls, thus humiliating herself, their children and Italian Politics with the now infamous parties from
which a series of leaked images caused European embarassment, these were published in El Pais due to an
injunction that Berlusconi achieved to prevent their publication in Italy.

There was a discussion of this on RTE news this morning. Apparently most people in Italy know nothing about this stuff because Berlusconi owns the media.

thats why El pais is in so much trouble with his lot..., however Garzon is after him so I cannot see him going to a Spanish
court... The images came courtesy of El Pais , this case btw is against a close associate who (er) organised the parties
and the charges seem to include procurement.

BBC NEWS | Europe | Berlusconi denies paying for sex

Sure no-one accused him of paying for sex, just his close associate is like under investigation for procurement.

Near total editorial control of television is sooo useful.

Rai news gave ample space to Nero's sorry Berlusconi's denials of the latest accusations. This may have bemused the viewers somewhat - they never reported the actual allegations.

Source: today's Repubblica, otherwise characterised by the Minister for Cultural Affairs as a threat to democracy.

    What fun.

The more recent allegation comes fom a lady of easy virtue who claims (a) she spent the night with our hero, (b) she got an envelope full of dosh for her pains and (c) she has tapes to prove it, now with the police.

Our hero claims (a) he has never paid for sex, (b) he is such a stud muffin that he could have as much as anyone would want without paying (not backwards about coming forward, our Silvio), and (c) she is being paid to make these claims by unknown enemies.

Reporting on such matters (except to pour scorn on this scurrilous gossip) clearly undermines democracy, so let's have no more truck with this please.
