Its like banning alcohol, it will only make it more attractive

New Labour should be investigating the causes of the increased vote for the BNP- its a lot to do with the new Britain New Labour is trying to foist on the people: a multicultural, intercultural, equality driven, transsexual, high visbility jacket, CCTV camera infested society

Banning political-parties is a slippery slope to dictatorship and unacceptable in a democracy. It's an internal UK affair, but as trends over there tend to influence politics here, I have to express concern. In any case, with the opposition of the Tories in the House of Lords, and possible opposition even from Labour/Lib Dem/Ind peers, it seems unlikely this will see the light of day. It's important to realise though, that this legislation wouldn't necessarily ban the BNP itself. THe party has said it would change its constitution if forced too by the legislation, which is about banning whites-only constitutions - not parties per se.
Mr Walker said the party would consult its lawyers once it had seen Ms Harman’s new legislation, although he added: “If we were forced to change our position by legal means, then we would.”

    The BNP will still exist
I clarified that as "effectively ban" which this effectively is.

I don't know for how many years the British liberal establishment has been trying to make the British more European. Well they have finally succeeded. The British people are electing fascists and the government is banning political parties.

the number of votes cast for the bnp in the seats which they won actually went down, that is they had less support from people.
they won their seats becaise the number of people not voting for the other parties went up, and princiapl among that group was new labour voters.
If new labour want to smash the BNP they should work on their own voters instead of banning parties.
And they hysteria about the BNP is unjustified, I know from canvassing for my own party how few people are even sympathetic towards them, and their net number of votes in a time of unprecdenetd political crisis in britoian went down.

This party should never have been called New Labour, it should of been called the monster raving looney party.

The British have already used positive discrimination in the Police in the UK.
