She also refused to stand up for freedom of speech during the Danish troubles over depicting Mohammed. She went out to Saudi Arabia and went on about how terrible the whole thing was, conveniently forgetting about democracy and freedom of speech. Now there's an actual "thundering disgrace".
The political establishment lacks both vision and courage.

Proud to hear her speak no matter where she goes in the World, money well spent for a change....not like the money wasted on those you Muppets did elect on their Paddys Day...sorry, Paddy Fornight junkets to Australia and the likes.

Anyone not moved close to tears or rage by Israeli treatment of Arabs (or any Lebanese) is either lacking as much humanity as the Israeli butchers themselves, or are US Republicans or Israelis (I'll steer clear of saying Jews)

BOYCOTT ALL ISRAELI PRODUCE and kick them out of the Eurovision...that'll teach them.

    Good point that.

What is the president really for:

1 Sucking up to foreign governments
2 Opening things like outreach centres
3 Hosting posh doos to give the establishment eeven more reason to feel
    satisfied with themselves
4 Getting her photo taken with Nigerian children on a regular basis
5 Empathising with people with chips on their shoulder and other assorted
    victims and cranks
6 Delaying the start of matches
7 Giving ministers their seals of offices
    8 receiving the taoiseach's resignation
9 Giving the army something to practice squarebashing and 21 gun
    salutes for.
    10 the mna

    That's about it

Aren't you forgetting the cliches, platitudes and meaningless feelgood remarks? Robinson was great for that sort of thing (come dance with me ireland, I have a candle for the diaspora....blah blah). Having said that, it must be some easy job to do. All you need are a few mates who are experts on the constitution to do the heavy lifting and the rest of the job is cushy.

you've got to hand it to that woman, she has an amazing sense of self importance. this feigned empathy just bordering on tears tone she takes up really is a ticket. the gullible public seem to love it though
    Jesus wept.
Can't we just lock her up in a hotel down the country or something? She's a heinous embarrassment.

God, I'd forgotten about that damned candle. McAleese is certainly not unique.

I hope we get away from these "When President, I'd like to bring peace to the world" next time.
