    Ahmadinejad 'wins' again

In another fake election, the mullahs have decided that their trusted friend Mr. Ahmadinejad should win.
The mullahs pre-approved all the candidates who were allowed stand for election - but sometimes even that doesent work - hence they need to fiddle to vote.
The drama has excited the nation and many Iranians now think they have chosen their leader.
But the appetite for rebellion is huge, with Iran having a huge young and female vote - most of whom despise their rulers as do most of the middle classes.
Just imagine if the Catholic Church were to approve all the election canditates over here - well that how it works in Iran...
DEBKAfile - Iran's state news agency acclaims Ahmadinejad victory. Moussavi says he has won

With a the current incumbent in the White House the Mullahs know they can do what they like. Obama thinks flowery speeches will win people over. Sadly for the rest of the world the regime in Tehran will now feel they have a mandate to make trouble.

DEBKAFile is not a great source but there was enough going on with this election to make me think it was fixed- shutdown of text messaging for example. I suppose obama will need to actually DO something now

There are no signs of Obama DOING much different to Bush. The speeches are meaningless.

That they are. Bush let Iran off the hook and Obama will do the same.

During the Bush years, the liberal candidates lost too, you know. The mullahs have always "done what they like"; when people think God is on their side, that's what they do.

From all indications, Moussavi is not going to take this result lying down:

A statement posted on Mr. Moussavi’s Web site on Saturday morning urged his supporters to resist a "governance of lie and dictatorship," according to The Associated Press.
Things could get very interesting there.

At least Obama has the recent anti-Hizbullah vote in Lebanon to shows that his policy may be working.

Congratulations to Ahmadinejad - the Iranians have told the world where to stick their concerns.

Presumably by "Iranians" you mean "the mullahs" since all indications are that the vote was rigged.

But then, you're a believer in an undemocratic Caliphate, so it's no surprise you would support an unelected priest caste.

Is there any evidence that the election was rigged?

We've seen ample evidence that US elections have been rigged, do the posters who are insinuating that these elections were rigged hold the US system up to the same standards?

In my opinion, there are similarities between the US and Iranian systems.

In the Iranian system, one set of unelected ideologues, the clergy, chooses the candidates and in the US another set of ideologues, wealthy & powerful elites, select the candidates and direct policy in their favour.

you havent presented any evidence of vote fiddling , a guy you and the whitehouse dont like won hands down is all . And if any western inspired coloured " revolution" trys its bollicking about in Iran theyll simply get their middle class US funded asses handed to them on a plate quicker than you can say mujahideen.
The only evidence of election regularities Ive seen was the middle class opposition continuing to illegally electioneer after the date on which nobody is allowed to campaign . Ahmadinejad and his people stuck to the law on that point , the US favorites didnt and ignored it in the hope they could show it to the world as them being cracked down upon if the Iranian governemnt tried to enforce the election rules. The Iranian governemnt didnt take the bait , let them break the law and let the people make their minds up as to who they wanted . They plainly didnt want the white house running Iran and a stunning victory for ahmadinejad ensued .

yet again western hype about Iranian regime change falls on its ass .
