    An interesting read:
Ahmadinejad is who Iranians want | Ken Ballen and Patrick Doherty | Comment is free | guardian.co.uk

Plus I've beenreading about Israeli spamming on Twitter and about Obama's regime insisting Twitter keep theri service going when they were due to suspend their service for maintenance.

Ballen and Doherty's explanation fails to explain many things, including why some areas had greater than 100% turnout, why the result was able to be announced 1 hours after the polls closed, and why Mousavi's vote was so low even in his own area.

    Balle and Doherty say:

"Our polling suggests that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's victory is what voters wanted"
    As one wag responded:

"Hi. We're calling from a nation that your would be dictator hates. Tell me, are you going to vote for this would be dictator, or the challenger? I promise you the Basij aren't listening."

Why, do you think the Iranian government is right to block it?

It wasn't a case of the Iranian government blocking it. Twitter was due to go down for maintenance, the US State Department asked them not to. Also, much of the anti-Ahmadinijad stuff was spam from Israeli accounts.

Whether or not a government should block a service like Twitter depends upon the circumstances.

When Chavez was briefly overthrown in a CIA sponsored coup, the private media played a massive role.

They even manipulated images, showing Chavez supporters firing weapons, and claiming they were firing at anti-Chavez demonstrators. In the unedited footage it is clear that they are not shooting at anti-Chavez supporters (there is an empty street below the bridge), they are trying to shoot back at snipers who shot around a dozen Chavez supporters.

In this case, if the private media had been blocked (which it wasn't, ironic since the first thing the Fascists did when they took over was block state TV), maybe the Fascists wouldn't have enjoyed a short lived victory.

If a service is being manipulated and used to spread disinformation with the goal of illegaly overthrowing the government or instigating a bloody conflict, then it should probably be suspended until that threat subsides.

Source? I presume you mean that Israelis were pretending to be Iranians?

As for your opinions that governments should be allowed to close down communications if they are used against the government - you should suggest it to Brian Cowen, I'm sure he thinks it would be a great idea.

Again, it depends on the circumstances. Are you assuming that private media is always right and always tries to do what's best by the people?

Here's a question for you. If a Fascist organization is spreading disinformation with the aim of overthrowing a democratically elected government and installing a Fascist regime, should the government shut their media outlets down?

All news networks spread disinformation. Should we close Fox News? Al Jazeera? Reuters? BBC?

Fox News? In an ideal world, yes. I think few sane people would object to that. Fox News not only dumbs it viewers down, but also instills them with fear in order to get them behind the "war on terror" which is sapping the country's resources and placing tax payers' dollars in the pockets of war profiteers.

The BBC? Why does everyone consider the BBC "objective"? They're not very objective when push comes to shove. They're the Brit state broadcaster and they're not as independent as they try to make themselves out to be.

    Al-Jazeera? I like Al-Jazeera. Quality programming...

And surprise surprise a pc left wing loony likes ....Al Jazeera. Al Jazeera twists the news as much as anyone else. If Fox should go then so should it. Personally I am no fan of Fox Noise (bar their female presenters) but it should continue and people should chose for themselves.

So, if you were elected, you would close down all networks you disagree with, including the BBC, but keep Al-Jazeera open.

Nice to know the kind of mentality we're dealing with here.
