US neocons yearn for Ahmedinejad election victory

US neocons who have been pushing for strong action against Iran are hoping Ahmedinejad will defeat his reformist opponent in the forthcoming elections in Iran.

Prominent neocon Daniel Pipes has openly said he hopes Ahmedinejad will win. This would make it easier to justify war against Iran because of Ahmedinejad's "outlandish statements"

The neocon agenda is once more to force America into an unnecessary war.

It's all just a game to these people. I'm fairly certain that some action will eventually be taken against Iran, but why is the NK threat not bringing about the same sort of language?

It is not to the fore so stop talking rubbish. The democrats control the House and Senate and Obama is a long long way from being a neocon. There is now no major political figure with any clout who can be called neo-con in the US. That's why the POTUS is reduced to wimpy speeches in Cairo instead of telling it straight.

That's a good point. NK should be the first country to be taken out by an attack. It will sell nuclear secrets to anyone and treats its people far worse than Iran.

There wouldn't be much profit to be made from invading and slaughtering North Koreans so it's unlikely that the US will invade. You'll just have to find some other way to satisfy your perverse lust for bloodshed.

NK is armed to the teeth and has horrible terrain...

It also has a huge Army right on the borders of a US Ally

    + NO OIL!

+ it will implode one day for sure

    - that will be a Crises situation but should be manageable.

Its stance is basically Defensive while Iran's is one of Expansionism and establishing itself as Major Player in the ME

Iran is also a tough nut but if it came to a War then its a better option.

Ahmedinejad is largely a ceremonial figure. Decisions are made elsewhere. If his clerical masters so decided he would likely be muffled quickly.
