    Er, no; the UN is the sucessor to the LoN, and according to the Geneva Convention, the settlements are illegal.

    But, by all means, keep arguing that such settlements are legal and continue to alienate any friends your country has. And by any standards I'm pro-Israeli (and pro-Palestinian). The only real solution to the crisis is a two-state solution; the illegal settlements only increase the chance of a one-state solution that most Israelis do not want.

    Article 25 of the U.N. Charter says: "The Members of the United Nations agree to accept and carry out the decisions of the Security Council in accordance with the present Charter," this cannot invalidate Article 80 which says that:

    [FONT=Arial]nothing in the [U.N.] Charter shall be construed . . . to alter in any manner the rights whatsoever of any states or peoples or the terms of existing international instruments[/FONT].
    That includes the Mandate designating the Lnad of Israel to Jewish settlement.[/FONT]
