I think hes just Jimenez redux, a populist with a military fetish. He adopts the trappings of socialism and communism because it appeals to the population, but deep down he is a corrupt dictator.

There will always be those who carry water for such people rather than encourage their overthrow- look how they carried water for Saddam Hussein. Time will prove them wrong, as it always does.

The "evil" alternative you speak of is competant stewardship of the economy on behalf of all the people by people who are capble, not just loyal to the party. But you seem unwilling to even contemplete that. Ho-hum.
You have deliberately cherrypicked from each of my posts, ignoring the bits where I have made clear my ability to criticise Chavez, but have made clear also the nature of the only real alternative. Your refusal to engage on any basis except selectively and partially quoting me to build up straw men to knock down means that there is no point continuing this.

Is it a case of no more foreign investment for Venezuela? It will end up looking like Cuba.

    .
ah yes , deep down . Therefore no actual evidence to back your rubbish up is necessary .

Saddam Hussein now. In time youll be proven right ..of course . Another way of saying he isnt actually a dictator or corrupt at the minute but he will be one day because you say so.

One single case, of someone you claim you know, does not warrent me answering. Lets stick to argueing facts in the public domain. If I "cherrypicked", then you ran up the garden path, I am not following you.

Any chance you can address the issues? If you think Chavez is doing something good by nationalizing anything that moves say so and offer some support please.

No, I know many, though through her. It is a sounder basis than most here have for arguing their case. Observation, rather than ideological fanaticism.

The corruption and dictatorial controls are there to see in the links I posted.

It was there for Saddam, Castro, Stalin, Lukashenka, Mugabe, Ceausescu, Honecker too. Some still carry water for them and their regimes.

He isnt nationalising anything that moves and hes doing precisely what the Venezuelan people elected him to do . Hes taking venezuelan resources out of the hands of foreign multinationals whove exploited them at will for decades . The proceeds of those resources being spent on Venezuelan healthcare , literacy and defence is much better than them being spent on private jets , yachts and that type of stuff . Id have thought that self evident .
Although I suppose its not according to people who preferred the mass illiteracy , massacres and no access to healthcare Venezuelas masses were subjected to prior to Chavez being overwhelmingly elected at the ballot box .
