The 'in gear' pic is playing soldiers in the woods with airsoft. Not growing up had rather tragic consequences for this lad.

It really is tragic to read the messages from his mother and sisters on his bebo.

Had he joined the Brits instead and been killed in Afghanistan he could have expected a semi-state funeral like the last one in Mayo.

Each of these deaths was equally wrong and tragic and a result of gullible and immature young Irishmen being lured away to become expendable agents of foreign power.

Airsoft is a bit like paintball, only with ball bearings. Huge community in Ireland play it, very popular. They play out military scenarios etc.

However, the Gardai have expressed concern recently because the air rifles are exact replicas of real guns, machine guns, even sniper rifles. Some have been used in armed robberies.

For the record we have said nothing wrong, we have in fact said that we think it's sad and that this fellow seems to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, and that he does not seem like a right-wing coup-monger. I said myself that I am not accepting the Bolivian government's version of what happened yet, the fellow seems to have been from a good family and to have been well loved. But, like it or not, the picture of him (which was up elsewhere already) is part of a public-interest story, and is legitimate. It will be all over the news by evening with or without me removing them. It is a massive story of international significance. I don't know the man, you clearly do, and it is sad that this happened. But happen it did and publishing a picture of him is justified.

yes it is all over the web and obviously it will be he was my friend and yes u did say that but other peoples made comments which are in no was justified. he's bebo is blocked now so im glad people will no longer be able to snoop on it and copy pictures. he is gone now please let him rest in peace without his name and family name being further tarnished
