could you then explain your reluctance to identify his employer given that you claim to have no contractual obligation towards them ? or how you come to be aware of their identity .

Why? If they are legitimate and not up to no good it should be no problem. In fact people should be proclaiming that he was in Bolivia working for such and such reputable company and doing such and such work if they really want us to believe he just happened to be "in the wrong place at the wrong time". If it was my friend I would be clearing up matters to avert speculation.
Such a parcel of rogues in a nation!
I find it odd that his employer hasnt issued any statement to the media . Or that the Bolivian government havent identified his employer or made any mention of a private security firm .
But maybe thats just me who finds that odd .

its not obvious at all . When a person is killed anywhere its perfectly normal for his employer and line of work to be identified . If someone is working abroad with a company and killed its perfectly normal for his employer to step in and take care of arrangements . Most people are usually insured by their employer against death or personal injury .
This mans employer dont seem to be talking at all or even admitting any link with him . Why should it be remotely secret ?
