'May have' is very vague. I'd wonder has the prosecutor concrete evidence of it, or if the 'may have' is a mis-translation. It seems odd to put it out there if it's just a hunch. If there is any truth to the link, though, it turns this whole thing in a disturbing direction. Between this and our two friends on the run (probably in Florida), it's very odd...

Yup, the word "may" is a license to hoist anything up to masquerade as a fact, regardless as to whether it is or not.

For me, the truly odd thing here is the fact that it's only emerging now. Normally one would expect this to have come out a lot sooner, by hook or by crook. The computer evidence, to me, has just become the fulcrum to the whole sordid thing. If the computer was on the internet prior to the deaths of the mercs, its dated footprints on the web will make compelling evidence with a clearly established time line.

It's a tantalising tidbit. Maybe it's a prelude to even more information being released?

A scary thought: This thread might only be getting started.

    Istvan Belovai

It might be useful to have the full text of the Budapest Times article on Istvan Belovai:

    Ex-spy linked to mercenary case
    Sunday, 21 February 2010
Eduardo Rozsa Flores, the ethnic Hungarian mercenary who was shot dead by a commando unit in Santa Cruz in April 2009, may have received financial support from an ex-CIA liaison officer, according to the Bolivian Prosecutor’s Office. The accusation will be rather difficult to prove, however, as the CIA man in question, István Belovai, passed away last November.

Hungarian-Bolivian-Croatian citizen Flores and two acquaintances were shot dead in suspicious circumstances after local police allegedly tried to apprehend them for conspiring to murder Bolivian President Evo Morales.

Belovai, who was one of the most prominent Hungarian spies, received a life sentence in 1985 for sending NATO documents to Russia with US approval and uncovering a spy ring within the military alliance. He received a partial pardon after the fall of communism, but fled to the US in fear of his life. He died in Colorado aged 71 in November.

According to Bolivian prosecutor Marcelo Sosa, Flores met Belovai – codename “Scorpion B” in the Balkans and later received technical and financial support from him for terrorist activities in the South American country.

Apparently the cooperation was revealed by examining computers seized by Bolivian police after the death of Rózsa-Flores. Investigators found several letters on one of the machines as well as documents suggesting the involvement in the conspiracy of at least ten other people, who will be questioned soon, Sosa told reporters.

Flores’ acquaintances in Bolivia told the news portal hirszerzo.hu that the Hungarian had corresponded with Belovai, but said it was impossible that Flores had been working with the CIA. “Even if that were the case, he would not have used an agent who had been inactive for the last 25 years”, they said.
Interesting but nothing definitely proven, like so much else in this murky case.
Yet back at the Shell Corrib project, where the late Michael Dwyer received so much valuable training, it is good to know that it has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that fisherman Pat O'Donnell is a 'thug' and a 'bully' and off to Castlerea Prison with him for seven months.

Like the Bolivian Scandal, the Corrib project history is as murky, as you can get.

Here are some videos from a caring citizen, a plumber from Galway. This man worked on Oil Exploration Rigs off the Irish Coast during the 70s. Since then, in his own quiet way he has been lobbying politicians of all parties to take a more active interest in harnessing our hydrocarbons for the benefit of the Irish people. The episodes up in Ballinanboy, Rossport are only the recent happenings in this man's campaign to persuade the Irish people to be more active to what is happening to our resources. Remember that the International Financial Buccaneers are not the only body of people who intend to bleed our country dry!

Now, a number of people subscribing to P.IE have a short fuse when they do not get the message that a person is trying to deliver in 15 secs flat. This man is not a suave politician who can get people's attention with one-liners. But I guarantee he is an honest citizen, who surprisingly has not given up after 35 years of trying to inform us of "The biggest scandal of all". I ask you to bear with him and watch the following short videos. We should use what we have between our ears to decipher what this man is saying; rather than as heretofore have a certain belief rammed down our throats because the MNCs and their political apparatchiks have millions of euro to invest in PR etc.

Now our politicians do not listen to common sense, they ignore our inner most feelings on Referenda, until they get the right result.

This man has yours and mine, and his own well being in mind in equal measure. When we look around at the Glorious Mess, the same politicians have got us into: he deserves a listen. Thank You.

Now! You can take this submission and start a new thread. I do not have this liberty.

    Updates from Bolivia

A few rough Google translation updates from Bolivia:

Judge Margot Perez ordered yesterday the arrest of Zvonko Matkovic Rivera in San Pedro prison. It is the ninth case jailed for Rózsa. The eight detained are Elöd Toas previously, Tadic Mario Astorga, Alejandro Gelafio Santistevan, Juan Carlos Guedes, Alcides Mendoza, Hugo Vasquez, Mario Herrera and Roberto Justiniano.

Matkovic Rivera weighs on the complaint of the alleged crimes of terrorism and armed rebellion.

The prisoner is the son of Zvonko Matkovic Fleig, former senator from Santa Cruz, former prefect of the department, former president of the Regional Development Corporation of Santa Cruz civic committee and business organizations.

    La Prensa

Eleven months after his self-exile in Brazil, USA and Argentina, reappeared yesterday former marketing manager of Industrias Oleaginosas S. A. John Kudelka Zalles and voluntarily reported to give statements to the Prosecution. Throughout his testimony, involving former Santa Cruz civic leader Branko Marinkovic with irregular cell directed by Eduardo Rózsa Flores.

Given these assertions, Marinkovic's lawyer, Victor Peralta, told the Network One in Santa Cruz, Kudelka accused of having met with government authorities before giving his statement.

"We were aware Peralta said that Mr. Kudelka had been contacted by government officials and was being brought to testify did not know in what condition, if a defendant or witness."

    La Prensa

Retired General Gary Prado, who arrested alive Ernesto "Che" Guevara in 1967, was linked to a process for their alleged ties to a group accused by the government of plotting a separatist war in Bolivia, said the prosecutor.

Prado was called to testify because it was established that the Internet had contact with the Bolivian-Croatian Eduardo Rózsa Flores, shot dead by police in April last year, said prosecutor Marcelo Sosa.

The retired general "will have to come (to the prosecution) to explain why driving that conversation with Eduardo Rózsa," Sosa said tax, without offering details about those contacts.

    Three more arrests...
Prosecutor Marcelo Sosa said the suspects, arrested Monday in the eastern anti-Morales bastion of Santa Cruz, included Gary Prado Arauz, the son of Gary Prado Salmon -- a general who led the military sweep that caught Argentine leftist revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara in October 1967.

Around 10 people have been detained in the case so far, and Sosa said he was finalizing paperwork to call some 20 people to La Paz to testify in the case.

The family of Michael Dwyer have expressed frustration with delays in the process. They also continue to insist he was on a security course, not part of a mercenary gang. It seems obvious, however, that they were a mercenary gang, and seems extremely unlikely that he could not have known and understood their politics and intentions after such a period of time in their company. It could be raised in the European Parliament soon.

Labour MEP Alan Kelly, who has met the Dwyer family, said yesterday he would raise the matter in the European Parliament.
He said the fact that one of Mr Dwyer’s colleagues who was killed – Árpád Magyarosi – was a Romanian meant that the EU should play a role in seeking answers.
“This warrants an independent investigation that is internationally observed. It needs to happen soon, as the longer this is delayed, the less evidence there is,” Mr Kelly added.
“It is also disappointing that the Irish Ambassador in the region still hasn’t visited Bolivia. We need action sooner rather than later.”
