Holy Smoke! Blair Gears up the Catholic Homosexuality Debate.

    Whoops! Browser Settings Incompatible
*This is Damian Thompson's Telegraph blog, he is not (as we would imagine) a huge fan of Cardinal Murphy O Connor.

EDIT:Holy Smoke's Blog is incompatible with P.ie settings, so everyone interested has to go to Telegraph blogs:

    http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk + http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...-is-wrong.html

Sly Reference number 2:Tony Blair criticizes Vatican attitude toward gays

*This is the article which Thompson is issuing with in relation to recent comments by ex PM and Head of the TBFF

Blair was accepted into the RC communion by the aforementioned and soon to retire Dr O Connor,
whom it appears will soon be working for TB at the TBFF!

    The Tony Blair Faith Foundation

TB recently opened a baptism cooperation site on the River Jordan btw, but I am afraid
I do not have the link for that one available cos I sent it off to a pal in high dudgeon without
    of course retaining a bookmark.

And this is today's telegraph article on aforementioned critique of the Pope by zealous convert :

Tony Blair says Pope's views on homosexuals is wrong - Telegraph

Tony Blair should never have been let into the Catholic Church, given his past voting record.

    His Credentials on:

    Life - None

    Values - None

    Morality - None

The pope even years back stated his discontempt when meeting him, saying that miracles and displays of moral guidance rarely occur in Britain nowadays.

He has no moral high ground at all given what his former party is planning on doing, promoting abortion services on Television.

I really find myself quite interested in Damian Thompson's approach to Blair and its a pity that the settings are incompatible with P.ie. The thing here is how TB keeps making the headlines, not to mention, of course ,that his conversion to RC is relatively recent and he should be wearing the L plates (and I am no fan of orthodoxy btw).

    I'm aware of that.

He should just shut up and be lucky that he is not being hounded by the International Criminal Court for lying about why he ordered the invading of Iraq.

He should go back to Anglicanism or somewhere where he can be useful, Catholicism has had enough embarrassment.

TB said: "Organised religions face the same dilemma as political parties when faced with changed circumstances.

"You can either A: Hold on to your core vote, basically, you know, say 'Look let's not break out because if we break out we might lose what we've got, and at least we've got what we've got so let's keep it'. Or B: You say 'let's accept that the world is changing, and let us work out how we can lead that change and actually reach out'."

Last December, Pope Benedict said that "saving" humanity from homosexual and transsexual behaviour is as important as saving the rainforests, adding that the Roman Catholic Church had a duty to "protect man from the destruction of himself".

aw jeez - TB is actually equating politics with religion!!!??? (how crass can you get?)

    Mein Got Pope Benedict!

The Church was setting itself up for embarassment by allowing this incorrigible hypocrite into the fold.

Before the iraq war John Paul II begged Blair not to let the war go ahead but was ignored.

It takes some chutzpah to defy a man of the stature of JP II and then turn around and join his Church.

TB Blair went on the record saying that "Religion is the new Politics", Rhonda .. er, Its not!

There has to be a separation betwixt the two cos they essentially deal with differing spheres of
existence. But he went on the record claiming that!

How anyone can think the two are compatible when the one can lead to theocracy and the other
invade the privacy of the individual etcetera... not to mention the whole risible attempts at mystic
gynaecology that accompanied the foundation of this state

The ancient Christian communities of Iraq were devastated as a result of the war. Yet another black mark against Blair.

Like deal with the links darling, some people actually may have opinions on this that may be different to yours-

Nobody picked up on Cardinal o Connor who accepted Blair into the Church and is hinted at to
become a part of the Foundation, He is outspokenly anti-queer. (anti gay adoption and such)
