No. For the record if it was the Germans or the French or the Polish or whoever who were sending more troops to Afganistan, I would say the exact same thing.

Saying you can vote for Lisbon and keep your neutrality is a bit like saying you will go to a rave party but you won't take any nasty pill cause you're so clean. It is theoretically possible. But your parents won't believe you.

So the problems there will just be solved by throwing more hand grenades and putting bulltes in peoples heads?

The state they are supporting is as bad as those they claim to be fighting.
The problems in Afghanistan wont be solved by military, especially not the American or British military who couldnt solve a 2 piece jigsaw puzzle between them.

The British army needs lots of new recruits. That means there are plenty of job opportunities for unemployed young Irish. I predict a huge increase in the amount of Irish in the British armed forces in the immediate future.

The British war machine needs cannon fodder, dont feed it.

Dont stick your head infront of a gun because some emotionless pawn pushing military general wants you to.

No it won't. But more troops are needed on the gound. It's part of the solution, but no where near the full solution.

The current Afghanistan government definitly does have more problems, but I would disagree with you that it's as bad as the Taliban. At least no one is being hanged from goalposts for simply disagreeing with the government any more and it is democratic, so it is up to the people as it should be.

It’s a no brainer, stay here and rot on the dole or join up, learn a trade if you want but certainly have a secure job with lots of travel and adventure. No point in staying here if you are young and unemployed, it will be years before there is any growth in our so called economy again.

Thats a very valid point. I spoke to a guy at Christmas ina small town in the midlands. He told me his son wanted to join the Irish army and was almost in when they told him that because of the economic downturn, there was afreeze on recruitment.

Now this man said his son was born to join the army, whatever that means.
So he went at Christmas and joined the Brithis army.He was excepted and the same week 50 other young lads from the republic were accepted to. Id say there is alot of Irish joining.

Their very foolish in my opinion.Maybe events in the North recently might stem the flow abit.

They're just legalising rape, and upholding the degradation of women.
They'll end up hanging themselves from goalposts.

That 'government' shouldnt be propped up by military might, no effort is being put into changing the society - its all bombs and guns.

This war will fail like Iraq, for the same reasons.

Lots of angry kids are queing up to fight for the Taliban because of the immense military campaigns in their country.

War is not the solution its the problem.

I disagree; the events in the north recently were just random criminal acts by murderous thugs who represent no one but themselves. There will be a deluge of young Irish lads joining the British army over the next couple of years. It’s the only way out for some of them as our economy has failed.
